870 brake conversion to power assit?

The tractor has the old style master cylinder for each brake, just wondering how hard it would be to convert it to the power assit brakes. The old style brakes are not much we installed new disk on both sides bled them out and adjusted them, but the brakes still will not hold very good. We have 2 with the power assit and they work great.

Hi Eddie, it is more work than you might think to change one over. Would take a valve and a bunch of hoses, pipes and fittings. If you have tractors with power you can compare them to the one without power and figure out everything you would need. Rod.

Thanks Rod just was wondering if some of you guys have ever did that? I would have to find a donor tractor to get everything from. Would the brake valve bolt up to the firewall, could you use the same pedals or need different ones. This is the tractor we redone last year everything is great with it but the brakes!

The pedals are the same and I am sure the valve would bolt to the firewall but having never done one I am not 100% sure. I have a few customers with the manual brake system and they are happy the way they work. Having run both systems when everything is operating properly I never felt there was much advantage to the power set-up, but I know there can be big differences from tractor to tractor. Rod.
