My pleasure! I just love to use my fateful old 730
Case on the grain drill. Smell the dirt, catch a whiff
on diesel exhaust, and the spring breeze blowing in
your face.... perfect!! Planted 35acres today, 58 so
far this year, and 16 more to go.

I always liked doing field work in the spring for the same reasons you described. Spring is when a farmers optimism is at it's highest. Once you lose that it's time to quit farming.

There is something about the smell of freshly tilled soil. Even though I probably don't have to, I enjoy cultivating, something most farmers would rather avoid. Rod.

I used to hate cultivating corn when I was a kid. I had to use a SC with a two row cultivator, and we started cultivating when the corn was really short, so I had to creep across the field in first gear at a little above an idle. It was really hard to stay awake after we ate dinner. I spent a lot of time on the ground uncovering plants if I dozed off for a second, and caught hell if I plowed out part of a row. Those were the good old days.
