Landed in Watertown, SD at 4:30 this afternoon. He is going to give the graduation speech at Lake Area Vo-Tech Institute this afternoon. Watertown is 28 miles north of my farm. I was a graduate of LAVTI 48 years ago as we were the first students of the vo-tech. General Mechanics was my class. We learned to overhaul engines with hands on experience. Our first year class was in the old Hubbard building in Watertown, an old Allis dealership building. Small potatoes compared to what LAVTI is today. Still proud that I was there in the beginning and what it is today.

oh what a mess thats going to be. I remember Reagan landing a helicopter in the field behind my house back in 85. They shut down the whole neighborhood, no one in no one out. they actually came to the house and tried to take my fathers guns. Of course he refused, they told us to stay away from the windows and if they even saw a curtain move they would shoot. It was a horrible ordeal. I hope the folks of watertown arent too inconvenienced. when ever any president goes to any town you may as well just sleep that day away and act like it never happened

I wanted to add that my brother actually found one of the secret service guys badge and wallet on the ground after the left. Mom mailed it back to em. guess he wasnt secret any more.

Some years ago(maybe 25) I think it was a president visited Ipswich SD and when the secret service visited with the
sheriff they were told that the visit was during hunting season and 2/3 of the pickups in town would have a rifle in the back window rack. The secret service said they were worried about the ones they couldn't see.

S. Dakota is external_links last state to visit as president, he chose Lake Area because they have received all sorts of awards at the community college level, ranked #1 in the nation and external_link wants to make community college free.

Three of my five brothers went to Lake Area. I did not but that's another story.

His speech probably has something to do with letting the kids know that if they think our country is messed up under his leadership, just wait until the sheeple vote nnalert in. LOL

My Niece graduated there today. Since she has been living with us since January she offered us tickets to go. I respectfully declined. I was at a meeting where the first Bush gave the keynote speech. What a zoo, and that was before 911.

I graduated in 2010 from LATI's diesel technology department. I always remember driving up I29 and there was a farm on the west side of the interstate with a bunch of Case Tractors on it. Maybe that is your farm? I am glad I was no where near Watertown today as I can only imagine what kind of a zoo that was. If I had been a graduating student I would of not walked across the stage today.

(quoted from post at 23:54:39 05/08/15) Some years ago(maybe 25) I think it was a president visited Ipswich SD and when the secret service visited with the

G.Shrub went on a bus tour around the mid-west calling it his main street tour or some such thing. The secret service checked out the routes through each town in advance of the bus. When they came to my home town they told anyone holding a sign with anything ani-Bush on it to go home or be arrested. Freedom of speech didn't get a chance that day. This was also before 9/11.

Then Illinois Senator external_link Spoke at my Daughters commencement at Northwestern University. The Football stadium was filled to capacity, weather was perfect, external_link said all the right things and received a standing ovation at the end of his speech. Everyone in that packed house stood up and applauded EXCEPT FOR ONE PERSON....me. True story, I just sat with my arms crossed surveying the butts ahead of me.
