Northern Radiators

Is anyone here having troubles with Northern radiators not fitting correctly?

I purchased a new northern radiator about 3 years ago for my 930 diesel and the lower outlet is made different than the original factory outlet.

Then like a damn idiot I bought another Northern Radiator for my 930 LP and the lower outlet is the same as the first.

On the new Northern radiator the lower outlet comes up, raising the height of the radiator hose that it get very close to the fan belts.

I have had to change my alternator brackets and belts plus run a smaller alternator pulley just to barely have enough clearance for the belts.

Even after all of that the least amount of belt slap and the belts hit the hose, thus cutting it.

I have thought about taking the new radiators off and having the old lower outlets installed onto them but we don’t have a radiator shop anymore.

Have any of you had similar problems with Northern radiators?

I don't like the Northern Radiators. Luckily we have a great radiator shop here and have radiators recored. The aftermarket ones sometimes have less cores and of course don't fit.

I have more trouble with improper fit using the Northern radiators. I hate to cut down any product line, but those guys have been in business long enough that they should have these problems figured out. Make sure to relay that info to your supplier so the message gets to Northern about their troubles. Rod.

I like your suggestion, I tried clamping a piece of metal to the hose but the Stupid outlet is so high that the hose is actually pushed up in a funny shape and its hard to get anything to fit.

I may try it again.
