Friend of mine just got his Grandfathers 9-18 crossmount back. There is an adjustment bolt with a lock nut on the top of each rear axle. What do these adjust?

Are you Referring to the Hubs on the wheels? if so there is a key this but pressure on the key to help keep it in place, otherwise I need more of a description where the bolt is located

There is one adjustment bolt on the top of each rear axle housing about midway from the banjo to the wheels.

Sully if we're talking about the same bolt, on my 12-20 they are retaining bolts for the rear inner bearing collar. They run into a groove in the collar and the nut locks them in place. PK
