Case 730 generator wiring

When I bought my tractor the guy before me had taken the original generator off because it had quit working and he slapped some other alternator on it but didn't hook it up.

I got an original back for it but since it wasn't hooked up I don't know where the wires go.

Figuring out electrical components is probably my worst skill, but I've got some pictures of what I'm dealing with.

I have a parts manual but it doesn't talk about the wiring at all just the break down of all the parts.

The wires were taped to a hose, one looks yellow/red, the other looks brownish to me, but I'm a bit colorblind so maybe you guys will be able to tell what they are in the picture?

Here's a wiring diagram for the 730CK diesel from the factory service manual. Not real clear, but it will help you under the dash. The
B or battery, terminal on the regulator goes back under the dash, ammeter etc and then to charge the battery, connecting to the + battery
stud on the starter motor. It will be a large wire, 10 ga or maybe 12. The G terminal on the reg goes to the A terminal on the
generator. It, too, will be a larger wire because it takes the current off the brushes and delivers it to the reg and then to the bat.
F or field terminal, will connect to the F terminal on the gen. It's a smaller wire as it does not carry a lot of current, just voltage
to energize the field coils to determine the charging rate. Hope that helps. Feel free to email or post questions.

On my tractor i got rid of the two six volt batteries that were wired up in series and replaced them with two twelve volt batteries that I hooked up in parallel.

But when I got the tractor the original batteries had the positive hooked directly to the frame and a large negative cable run to the starter?

Is my tractor set up wrong, it starts up just fine? Or is the diagram just different than what I have for some reason?

Mine 830 is a negative ground. I would certainly just use a large 12v, battery technology has improved since the 60s. You may have to
polarize your generator if you've been running with a + ground. The starter will spin, with either ground but the charging system needs
to be in sync
