case 2670 or 24 70 modifications

has anybody ever made any changes to differential ratios to increase travel speeds.who would know if this is possible other than talking to a dealership

Yes, possible if you have adequate stands and jacks. The planetaries have to come off to get the axles out probably easiest to remove entire housing. According to Elmers' repair the side gears are proprietary. Have never pursued myself. These are eatons, have to find a lower number on the ring and pinion ratio. Probably easier to put 20.8-38's on.
I want to if I live long enough put some two speed diffs in mine. I have adequate items to remove and install axle assemblies. Tom

are you saying that the ring and pinion are eatons and that I could just find a

different eaton ring and pinion ratio. Also i assume the side gears are not changeable. What does it take to put a two speed in and what does it do for the ratio. Will it be faster or slower and how much.

Yes, just eaton differentials. If you are serious find a shop that specializes in exchange and rebuilding. They can tell you better about what will fit and ratios available. I had the numbers off the carrier and ring gear somewhere seems like 4.44. Tom
