Case 440 question

I just had a bucket hydraulic cylinder rebuilt and am replacing all the fluids in my new to me case 440. I drained the hydraulic fluid under the torque tube but I could only find one drain plug and the manual says there is two? There is a plug under A and a plug under B according to the manual but I can only find the drain plug under B. Where the A plug is supposed to be there was never a plug.

Is there just one hydraulic drain plug for a gas 440? Or is it hiding somewhere?

your pic is showing a CASE-O-Matic unit which a 440 never had as they were only offered in dry clutch models, a 400B/420B/530/600B/630 could have COM but not 430/440 models

Good to know. The manual that came with it is for a 430-530 case, covering a number of models. I have a draft o matic case that has a 431 plate model on it. I am suspect of manuals from 1964 as to being 100% accurate anyway...which is why I am here.

So for a 430 case was there just one drain plug?

Also when I fill the thing back up with hydraulic fluid do I just fill it up, start it, run it for a bit, check the level again, top it off and I am good to go?

Just for clarification, you mentioned that your sn# tag says 431 model. That would make it a rowcrop tractor with bar type rear axles and tall front spindles, and a diesel engine. A 440 has a gas engine, flanged rear axles and short front spindles. If your tag was stamped 441 it would be a gas row crop tractor. and if stamped 430 it would be a diesel powered utility tractor like the 440.
First didgit, tractor model. Second didgit, engine type. Third didget, axle/chasis configuration. There were also some other configurations such as a 445 or 435. All were decaled as 430s.
