Got new Batt, new coil, new plugs, new rotor bug

Getting fire down to the dist, and to the Dist cap. Not getting fire out the ports the plugs fit into. Cap looks new on the inside, and new on the outside plug wire port insides

I was going to suggest checking the condenser I have seen new ones that were bad then I re-read your post. I assume then that you have fire at the points and to the top of the cap.

Well, you lost me with your description of what you have done.
Did you put gas in the tank, and does it run out of the carb. drain?? Did you clean and rebuild the carb?

Well did you clock the inside metal cap so it fit solidly on the dist. housing, over the points and also the dist. cap so it sets down in the notch and not cocked.????

Can you see an arc when the points break? Make sure the coil wire post on the side of the distributor isn't grounded to the distributor with the points open. When you hook a wire to the spark plug and ground the plug to the engine, you get no fire right? It is set up positive ground, right, so you have the negative wire from the battery hooked to the negative side of the coil. If all else fails, there may not be enough power coming through the ignition switch. Run a wire directly from the neg. on the battery to the coil and see if that helps.

Do you have another rotor to try, I have seen them fire down through to the shaft.

Do u have fire at the coil wire with thepoints cover and distributor cap on , I have seen the connector where the wire and condenser fasten stick up high enough to short out on the metal cover, I always bent them over after all was tight.

Mel, you made a really good point with the slide on connector prongs (points- condenser) not slid on all the way and shorting out on the metal cover.

Not sure I can get to the points. Its pretty rusted.
No fire from spark plug wires
Ive got it on Negitive ground with the coil going Neg to the distributor

Don't have another rotor bug. This ones new.
The wire on the side of the distributor at around 8 00 on the outside away from anything it could touch

I have a bakelite piece that has 2 studs? on it. One going from it to the key switch, and the other going to the side of the distributor. On the dist that end of the wire has a eye hole going over the bolt going on the side of the dist.

HOW DO I GET TO THE CONDENSER???????????

I AM getting fire at the top center of the distributor going from the coil to the cap

If the distributor is so rusted you can't get to the points or condenser then I think the problem should be obvious. Clean up your distributor.

You don't have moisture in the cap do you? Hose it down good with WD-40 and wipe off the excess. My Farmall M will pull this stunt a couple times a year.

I had the batt hooked Negative ground. NAPA man said it likely needed to be Pos ground. Likely burnt up new coil. Bought NEW coil, dist cap, rotor. Took off the inside cover of the dist and the points are new and likely the condenser also.
Think the carb needs overhauled as it was flooding BAD so ill have to get the kit and get the carb overhauled then well know if it dosent start that were back to electrics.
