Adding 3 point to Case 731

I recently purchased a 1967 case 731 diesel tractor. It had the original hitch removed at some point and a bucket put on the front.

Now that I have it I want to get it set up with a three point but can't seem to find any information anywhere.

So what I'm looking for is a three point hitch to put on my tractor.

I'm pretty sure you don't just buy one at the store and slap it on in five minutes, so I guess I'm looking for some plans to make one up for my rig.

Sorry if these are bad questions but I am new to the world of tractors.

1. What parts do you need for a project like this?

2. I think it had a category two hitch when it was built. Would it be a bad idea to move down to a category 1 hitch(I see a lot more category 1 implements locally)?

3. Can I use a category 1 implement on a category 2 hitch?

4. Will my tractor have draft control if I put a three point on it(I may want to use it to plow later and I've heard it's very good to have)?

What do you guys think?

Thanks for any and all help you may be able to give.

It would be far easier to go to a salvage yard and purchase the missing parts you need verses trying to fabricate something from
scratch. I'd stay with category two. Size of your three point components are determined by the horsepower of the tractor. You
can still use Cat 1 equipment by using simple adapter sleeves for the difference in pin size. Your 730 should have draft control
if it hasn't been removed. Again, a salvage or donor tractor will fix you up. I'm wondering if you don't have most of what you
need on your tractor already? Many times just the 3 point arms are removed and the rest of the controls and plumbing are left
intact.

Thanks for getting back with some information.

I'll try to take some pictures of it tomorrow if the weather is alright so you know what I'm trying to work with.

Again thanks a bunch for helping out.

Got some pictures today.

You are missing a whole bunch of parts. If this tractor ever had a 3pt hitch, someone totally stripped everything off of it other than the drawbar support assy. I couldn't tell if there is a rockshaft housing and lift arms on it. The plywood panal blocks the view of platform to see if it has the pressed steel wells that cover the lift arms when raised. Are there arms and a rockshaft under the seat mountings. If not that tractor was a Western without a 3pt and would take a lot of work to put it on since the system has load, draft, and position control. I may be wrong, but to my knowledge if a 30 series CK was bareback without 3pt it would have had a wide swinging roller drawbar. without the bracketry for the swayblocks.
Sorry I don't have a parts breakdown for you. Perhaps someone else on here can provide that for you.

Well, I removed the plywood and got another picture of it along with the number plate by the ignition.

If it's the original number plate it should be the row crop diesel version from 1967 according to tractor data, but I don't know how else to tell if the number plate came from somewhere else?

It looks like it's definitely missing a lot from the diagram you put on here.

I would buy an entire top cover with a rock shaft. The entire top cover needs to come off and be replaced. From the pictures I doubt if this tractor ever had a three point. We have done this several times and they are available. I don't know where you are located but salvage yards can supply you with the entire assembly.

(quoted from post at 17:24:14 04/08/15) If your interested I' breaking up a 730CK with 3 point, and should have all the parts you need. Mike

I am interested, what would the whole 3 point cost me?
