It was around 1976 that a area farmer bought this very clean low hr 1470. He did not like the noisy cab so he removed it and built the cab you see. He did a excellent job, at the time it was quieter than anything CASE built. Heated, AC and stereo. I remember driving the tractor shortly after he completed it and marveled at its comfort. About 5 yrs later he went to ridge till and no longer needed a 4 wd so he traded it for a 2390. The next owner wanted more power so he installed a pumped up 2670 engine and dynode at 250 PTO HP. Then wheel hop bothered him so he went to the local salvage yard and got another hood and frame from a 1470. He then proceeded to cut his tractor in half at the engine so he could add 24 in. to the frame so the front axle got moved ahead that much. He was able to use part of the other hood to lengthen his 24 in. The tractor looks a little goofy but did ride better. It was also at that time he painted it red and black. He then wanted more rubber on the ground so the big 30.5 x 32 tires went on. He ran this tractor 20 yr like that and never had a drivetrain failure. He then retired and the tractor was sold and I lost track of it till the other day. The 40 years of tough work is showing and could use a paint job again but the darn thing runs good. 3 pt and pto along with the double rear steering cly's which I guess is a seldom seen option. He even made a double foot pedal for steering the rear and the cab has tilt telescoping steering wheel from a Massey. Rod.
