Do you change anything other than flipping pto shaft around from 1000 to 540? We got this old beast going again today with minimal tools and oil and filter changes. It's been setting awhile if you look at pic had a small branch grow thru injector lines.

Greg,
The shaft just flips around, but it is spring loaded and has to be rotated to align gears when fliped to 1000rpm. If you have removed the shaft you will notice the 540 end is much longer than the 1000 end. When you need 1000rpm you push in against a spring and there are two pins that connect the hollow tube to the shift collar. You need to turn the shaft and push in against the spring and then lock the snap ring. Do NOT try to hammer it in, as you will break the pins. Where did that tractor come from?? Are there any dealer decals on it??? If so post pic of decal, for Don R. There wern't many around here with long rear axles.

Loren,it was at Macfaddens in the junk row and Jim didn't want it. Has the 8 speed and didn't see any decals. I was reading previous posts about the 1070 being bulletproof and here's proof.

Greg, I was kinda thinking it was a Jimmy special.
I was hopeing that you could make the gathering last week. You haven't been on YT for a bit and perhaps you missed my invite on TT forum.

Greg, it was here, Jon F mn, Jay NY, his dad and daughter, and Formally Bill NY, were here on the 25th. All hopeing to see some maple syrup being made, but weather wasn't cooperating., so we all had a great time telling tractor tales. HeHe.
If you can make it over the ridge and down through the valley to here in the next week or so give me a hollar. e-mail open

Loren, thank you for the invitation wish I hadn't missed it. A fella told me this morning we weren't to far away from your place( KC's diner) and the auction we went to last year that had construction and farm equipment. I forgot the name but he had a JD excavator and the 750 dozer that needed track tightener fixed. He also had like 3 Fox pull behind choppers and all the Oliver equipment that was listed sat across the road except for a old Oliver 80. How is your treatment going? I went to Bassett and my PSA test is good with my family history I have to be concerned. I'm off to the dentist now ,I need to try and keep the teeth left in my head. LOL, Greg
