1210 speeds

I am trying to find which gear combination will give me 8 mph with the pto @ 540 rpm . The decal on the hood that I thought had that info has long disappeared. Tractor is a Case/DB 1210 with 12 speed . Also, can someone tell me what engine rpm is when pto is @ 540? Thanks Jim S

1828 engine rpm will get you to 540 PTO rpm on the low side of the PTO selection option. Alternatively 2000 engine rpm will get you to 1000 PTO rpm on the high side of the PTO selection option.

As for your speeds: 2 ways to determine.

Option 1 is use a handheld GPS and determine that way.

Option #2 is more old school but works equally as well although requires a whisker more work on your part. All you need is a stopwatch or timer (most cell phones even have this feature) and a 100' tape measure. Find 2 fenceposts or 2 trees or other landmarks on an isolated straight section of road. Try to pick pick 2 points in the 200' range at a minimum. Going longer with the 2 points will increase your accuracy a tad but will take you more effort to physically measure it with the tape. Measure the distance between the 2 points you picked. Now take your tractor and get up to speed well in advance of your marker1, click when your timer when you reach marker1 and click it again when you reach mark2. Your recording will result in a seconds per x feet ratio. From here simply do the math to convert your recordings to mph.

If you need help with the math conversions then post your times and the distance you traveled in that time and we can finish it for you.

The advantage to doing either of these calcualtions is you will know your speeds for the actual tire size, tire brand, and even the amount of tire wear, that exists on your tractor. Tire brands vary in diameter so stickers and books are only an approximation for the tractor with factory issued tires. If someone replaced with different brand or worse a different size tire then the sticker you can not find is no longer accurate anyway.

The 1210 was available with 3 different final drive ratios. Which to you have? It will be stamped on the serial number tag and stamped on the end of the rear axles. 9/50, 10/49, or 11/49.

Is it a sycro(real 1210), or a hydrashift(really a 1212)?

What size tire?

I have some of the speed charts here, there probably isn't a perfect gear, but I can get you close. Depending on gearing/tires a syncro will be in Low-3 or High-2 at 1800 or so.

jim i hope this works.my 1210 DB owners manual shows,1800 rpms
and L3 would get you 8 mph.

Looking at what charts I have, and adjusting fro ratio differences and tire sizes, High 2 at 1800 is probably as close as you can get.
