Black Vs Orange Belly

Why do some of the Case tractors have a Black Chassis vs. an Orange Chassis? For example, a 2096 has a Black Chassis. Was this a model change?

Also, does CDC under engine description mean Cummins?

Thanks.

Paul

The 94 series tractors and the 96 series had a black chassis. 30, 70 and 90's used orange. CDC stands for Consolidated Diesel Co. Ownership used to be 50% CASE, 50% Cummins. Rod.

I understood that the change came about when they had to eliminate the lead in the paint. They were unable to get a nice glossy power red color in unleaded, so they changed to black.

if you were ask me ,,from what I gather ,, case sold out to Tenneco in the late 60s , Tenneco , bouht up david brown in 1972 , and serveral more companie in a 15 yr period ,a lot of major product changes occurred then ,, some good , some not so good ,,but clearly it was evident case family control was gone forever .. then the biggie merger shotgun marriage with ihc occurred in 83 , then Tenneco sold out altogether ,, classic case of corporate communism and perverted hostile takeovers ,, I for one think that America economy is not improved by this sort of shenanigans ,, in the event of hostile takeovers , unions can not make a positive difference for labor ,, their presence is detrimental to the prey

At the time Tenneco bought David Brown and merged it with Case,David Brown was a major player in the world tractor market. They were number 7 in number of tractors produced annually, while Case was number 13. David Brown provided Case with a strong world marketing platform that had been lacking.
