1070 reverse noise

I have an early 1070 (tan) Playing around with it the other day. When you have it in reverse, it makes a loud whining sound. Not sure if this is normal or not. This tractor is new to me. Just replaced filters and oil. And yes, used the Case UltraTran oil. Also, when going forward, sometimes when you push that inching pedal in, it lurches backwards. Any help would be grateful.

The whine is normal. When depressing the inching pedal try to have the PS in first. Don't just slam the pedal down with it in the higher gears, because you are causing it to lock all the clutches momentary. Some people shift the PS down by using the inching spool but it doesn't work very good especially if you don't have your heal planted on the floor board.

,, my 1070 in extreme cold will lurch forward momentarily when shifted in reverse ,, and reverse will whine and sound sorta like a chevy power glide in park , mite be good practice on cold strtup to place range in neutral before moving and go thru speeds and reverse with power shift , noticing the needle pressure bounce and engine surge at each shift .. ,very important that you get a owners manual on this tractor ,, once understood a lot of anxieties will melt away .. the power shift case is not a tractor to sit any idiot in without proper coaching , you can ruin a lot of pricey parts and componets because of ignorance..that said , it is a very stout ,tuf , reliable and long lasting tranny ... until you gget the book please ask us any{ dum} question you mite have.. lol .. there are no dum questions ,, ok ..
