I bought this complete motor yesterday for 250.00. It was advertised as a case 400 but the manifold and air cleaner is the same as my 800. Wondering if it could of came off an 800. It has a zenith carberator and was curious if that was an option or did someone replace the marvel scheibler. Thanks for any info.

looks like ya done alrite . as long as it runs out good .should be 251 cubic inches for 400 ,,. loox to have the exact carb that goes on a dc ,, it will run on it ok , if you have issues with governor and throttle ,,simply order ,the correct carb

The 400, 700, and 800 were basically the same tractor with a change in tinwork; that's why it looks like one out of an 800. (The 700 had a simple tranny and the 800 had Case-O-Matic,)

There is a casting number on the side of the block just behind the distributor that will help to determine a little more information about your motor.

Casting # A1111 was installed in the 400's starting in the middle of 1957 to the end of that year. Then this same casting was used in the 700's & 800's in 1958 & 1959.
