2590 Leaking between motor and bellhousing( torque tube)

My 2590 leaks some oil or hyd oil from between motor and bellhousing. should this have a sealant between? I looked at a 1370 we have and it looks like silicone has oozed out when they tightened her up.

Maybe Rod will jump in here but I think there is no gasket on those

Originally there was a orange anerobic sealer that served most joints on the tractor.

I think it is a matter of preference but I use the purple sealant Case supplies. Seems to me the number was B51550 or something like that

All manufacturers use anerobics these days and a knowledge parts person can guide you in the right direction. As with any sealer the joint should be clean and dry upon assembly.

In my opinion gasketless joints are far superior to gaskets but some may disagree.

Yes you are right Mel with the introduction of the 20-2590 tractors CASE no longer used a gasket between the engine and torque tube. Only their sealant, I believe it was called 504 back then, Rod.

I am going to see if they will tighten up a bit tomorrow as I haven't tried that. I assume one could secure, take apart what is needed and slide it apart just enough to clean and seal?
