We had heard of eagle sightings at a local lake, so this eve went for a drive and was lucky enough to get a couple pics. Rod.

Rod, they are a majestic creature aren't they. They are becoming commonplace here in NC Pa. On a recent drive my wife and I saw two, one sitting on a limb next to the nest and one in flight carrying something. For anyone interested, there is a Eagle nest cam near Hanover Pa. Can be accessed by typing Pa, Bald eagle Cam Portal. Not lighted at night however.

My favorite is probably the Great Horned Owl and her two chicks on the same site from near Savannah Ga. Just drop to the time lapse pic and follow the all cams button on the right bottom of that screen.

Rod,

That is truly a majestic bird you caught on film. We have just started seeing a few flying over our fields the past 2 years. Always a thrill to see one. Thanks for the pic. Don

Thanks Mel, we will check those sites out. The past few years occasional eagles have been spotted migrating north to the many lakes here in MN. The Great Horned Owls are no longer as common in this area as they once were, I for one wished we had a lot more of them. Rod.

The Dacorah Eagles will probably hatch their first egg in the next 10 days or so. (Google Dacorah Eagle, they have live video on the nest near Decorah, IA.) The pair has been coming to the same area since '07. They are on their second nest, a limb supporting the first one broke and they had to build a second nest, a couple of years ago. They say the "new" nest probably weighs over 1,000 lbs now. (Its not too far from the first tree that broke a limb.) Interesting to watch when they change from the "rooster" to the "hen" or visa-versa when the one that's been on the nest wants to eat and/or exercise. (My $0.02 worth. jal-SD)
