I found this Case 440 for sale on Cincinnati Oh CL on the FG section. I really got interested when I started looking at the pictures of it and for some reason it doesn't look right. I've seen lots of 430's and a few 440.s but this one doesn't quit right for ether. In the add he calls it a 440 utility that I don't think it is. Anyway I don't recall ever seeing a solid front axel on one and the front end sheet metal looks to long to me and a few other things that don't look right to me. I could be wrong and this could be what they say it is but it don't look right to me. What do you think it is? Bandit

That is about a 1964?? 440.

the Ibean axles were mounted a bit further under the tractor, and that make the nose stick out further than the newer ones that had a hydrostatic steering axle. That one has manual steering, without the power asist.
The pics are of my older 440.

Well I have to say I learned something new today. I would have to say that I may have never seen a 440 before today. I few slick dealers around hear will paint and decal a tractor up for what they want to sell it for more money. You know buy a 4010 JD paint it decal it a 4020 and take the serial number plate off (most likely to put on a stolen tractor) and sell it that way.

It is a different tractor for sure but I don't think it would be worth $4500 but still an interesting Case never the less. I see now the reason for the long front sheet metal seeing that hydraulic pump on yours. I'm going to have to look harder at some of these old tractors, So many tractors and so little memory left! Good thing I have YT's to refresh the memory and learn from! Bandit

Hey Bandet,
The pump that I have setting there took some serious modification. The steering worm and pinion sets in that area. I removed it and am designing a hydrostatic steering system off a 660 combine to replace the old steering system.
The normal way of mounting an aux pump was to mount the pump on the front of the nosepeice and use a splined shaft with 4 bolt hub on the crank pulley. The loader you see portions of is all custom made and there was no room for a pump out front.

In that Case (ha ha) it looks like some mighty fine barnyard engineering to me! You just cant beat a good barnyard engineer for what they can do! Bandit
