Second Weekend of Paint 830, The Chassis.

Last weekend we tore off sheet metal, strip and painted panels. This weekend strip, clean and paint the chassis. I am beginning to realize why some paint jobs get rather spendy if hired done. We have over 40 hours in this now and to reassemble and decal it will take another 10 plus. In case you are wondering those are genuine CASE tractor and weight stands, LOL. Rod.

Ya Loren, we got some of those %(@%#$@ shingles that are no good and now I have another project for the summer that I am not looking forward to doing, Rod.

Rod - Sure wish my 770 was that far a long, mech done and sheet medal off, but a lot of sanding and blasting left to do!! Oh well, that is the enjoyment I guess.

Rod, what did you do as far as prep goes? Did you sandblast it or just clean it really good with a pressure washer? There have been a few posts lately about prep before painting along many opinions about what to do. The two tractors I'm thinking about painting are in similar condition to yours.

Rod is a 70 Seris steering wheel on there. Not going to lie every since I saw the one on your 430 I have been looking for one for my 430. I like that they are dished and a little thicker..

On the chassis we washed and washed with hot high pressure. Then once it was on the stands and dry we rinsed it down with a solvent meant for oil and wax removal. Then when dry again shot on a coat of primer and two color coats. Rod.

Yes it is a seventies series, the original was badly cracked. This narrow front tractor turns so easy that smaller wheel works great. On our 430 with hydro steering I love the smaller one. Rod.

It seems like a lot of work at the time, but we will all enjoy the results for years and I know you will also. Can't wait to see your finished project. Rod.

Morning Rod, Nicely done. I was wondering about your stands simple and effective, what are the Dimensions? I had another question, how much paint did you use?

kinda loox like the dimensions are the same size as the piston sleeves of a 830 lol .nice work, rod .

Thanks Rod,....it sure helps to read how you cleaned it up as well as see the before and after pics. It's relieved some stress for me knowing it can be done this way with good results. I wasn't looking forward to a day of sandblasting and all the other prep and cleanup afterwards.

Rod, in 1st pic is that oil-dry on the floor? and if it is why? ( kinda dumb) but just curious. I been look'en at afew 100 series tractors with the thought of trying to refurb one plans to retire next july. Still in that "can I do this mode" great pic's thanks for sharing the wisdom as well. God Bless

I would not sandblast a chassis because sand will get into every little crack, so washing and degreasing seems to work good I think, Rod.

Nice one now that I have blown up the pic I see it. I guess I should have been a little more skeptical after you posted LOL, It wont happen again fool me once. Two quarts not bad.
Thanks for the laughs.

Very nice Rod. As the owner of an 830 diesel, I have really enjoyed your pictures. Makes me daydream about painting mine...

It looks like like a good job! But I wish you put outriggers on your stands to be safe. I am not a Case guy but I sure learn a lot from your posts!

Rod, it is a true joy to see someone actually use the original type Flambeau Red (Orange) paint. I am tired of seeing "red" Cases prior to 1980. Thank you very much!

Going to be a looker Rod, and yes, you will put it back to work too!
Thanks for posting
