I had some potentiometers custom made. Been to cold to swap one in the 4490. I have a wandering rear when I get off center with the front. Think I have a dead spot in the front pot. Tom

Tom: Had the same problem, turned out to be a corroded connection to the back. Somewheres, I have a checklist to go thru w/ a voltmeter that narrows down where to look, if you are interested. How did you get potentiometers made? Doesn't seem like the easiest undertaking.

Well It started with sticker shock. So I disassembled one sensor got the number off and tried all the various places on the web that sells the almost same critter for 5 bucks. No luck. Next I made contact with spectrol-vishay. Thought I had the exact ones on the way. But no they are tied up with Parker and can only sell that unit to Parker.
Next I tried someplace back east that put me onto ETI systems. After talking to them They said we will see what we can do. As they had no affiliation with Parker-vansco there was no sales limitations. I also sent them one of my used pots that they used to reverse engineer the Pots. They are not exactly the same but since it was a trial run I hated to put mega bucks in them. Just haven't had the time when the weather was right and vice versa. I am in the middle of getting the engine out of the 5250 because the crank is scored. Calving and of course my full time job.
As for the diagnostics you have I would appreciate them. I still have the Pots if I that doesn't turn up a problem. And an extra control module. Tom

John, Hectic weekend. Calving in a little snowstorm, had 4 lost one.
Is this in the service manual which I have but don't recall seeing?

If not do you need email or physical. Thanks Tom
