811-B is back in the saddle. Thanks to some new head gaskets, refreshed valves, rebuilt carb, new exhaust manifold compliments of Don Livingston, rebuilt starter, rebuilt gen and extensive radiator repairs.

Also converted the sediment bowl to 1/4turn ball valve from mcmaster-carr and switched to inline filter. No more drips every other time you turn the valve.

Now to give the seat some attention before 200 miles in July.

Good Job ,, Jay ,, I agree with bret,The Case o matic is a fun drive ,, btw bret , you mite consider anew carburetor ,,.that one change will make a problematic gas guzzling tractor ,,. A totally different tractor ...

I use the M/S carbs on all my engines that I build for pullers. The M/S used on the 800--830 series are able to be updated to the larger 1 1/16 venturi and I have lathed out venturii for engines over 450 cubes and the carb will flow air well enough to feed that many cubes at over stock rpm.

I converted our 39 DC to M/S many many years ago and the quality of the idle alone would sway me. The 39 I used a 1 1/16 830 venturi and it had typical DC lowend torque and way better response. Just looking down through the DC stock and the M/S carbs tell all you need to know, the compound Venturi the Zenith uses is very restrictive although adequate for a engine with the DC s rpm characteristics.

Also the M/S is dead simple to work on with a minimum of passages to clean and no air metering through the throttle shaft that can be screwed up by loose bushings. Any one. throwing them away and switching to zenith get hold of me.

To be perfectly honest I have never played with a Zenith the size of the 800--830 so will not condemn it, I just use Scheblers.

I'm a fan of the Zenith's over the Marvel's as well, and purchased a NOS univseral zenith/bendix for this tractor. However, that steering shaft with the stock intake really limits what you can fit on there. We opted to keep things stock and rebuild the Marvel instead. I think the Zenith has already found a new home on a MM U.

What carb are you using exactly? I can't imagine any carb going is going to make a 55hp gas tractor a fuel miser under load.
