Can anybody list the years of manufacture of the rowcrop and wheatland 930s starting with the very first pre CK 930s. Reason I ask is because I run into some confusion with other people. For example I had one guy thinking they never made a 930 CK on the old 6 speed design. That's all you find in my area. I also found an ad on the internet for the "new 930 special" which looks to me like the rowcrop 930 tailored for wheat farming. Thanks

I have a 1963 930 CK diesel Wheatland (or so I've been told) 6 speed hand clutch tractor that I bought out of the far side of Kansas and had hauled to Ohio. I think the first year was 60 or 61 for the CK, Before that they made the 900 witch you set low in the back above the draw bar and was called a wheel tractor. This old tractor is a brute for sure that you cant slow down. This is my heavy work tractor. Bandit

930's came out in early 1960, very similar to the previous 900 model but with 1/8-in larger bore, 401 cu. in. in the diesel, LP was still 377 cu. in. 1961 and 1962's were basically the same except for a longer snout, different fuel tank cap and seat. 1963 was the start of the first Comfort Kings, and had the same round fenders as the previous models. About 1965 the wheatlands got squared-off tan fenders and I think it was about this time the row-crops appeared. The wheatland and row-crop versions were in production until 1969, 1970 saw the start of the 70-series.

The first 930's, including the round-fendered Comfort Kings, were chain-drives with 6-speed transmission.

Others can provide greater detail.

I have 4 Western Special 930s, made from 64 to the flat fendered one made in 67. They are all 6 speeds with chain drive finals. Also have a first year row crop 930 that is 1965 model.

1960-1962 930/940 (diesel/spark ignition)Wheel tractors Red fender 6 speed,chain drive
1963-1964 930/940 Comfort Kings Red fenders fuel tank behind seat 6 speed, chain drive
1965-1967 930/940 Special Models 6 speed, chain drive with Desert Sunset fenders
1965-1969 931/941 Comfort King General Purpose and 932/942 Comfort King Western special, all 8speeds Desert Sunset fenders

So can we assume that they did away with chain drive with the CK row crop square fender models ?? We had two 1965 830 CK gassers that I don't believe had chain drive. Could be wrong?

830s never had chain drive at all. All were 8 speed tractors. In my pic below the 2nd from right 930 has flat desert sunset western fenders and is a 67 model. The 8 spd and 6 spd overlapped production in those years until 67.

Thanks for the info. Makes one wonder back then just who called the shots , the engineers or the bean counters.
