Took the injectors out of my 830 yesterday and took them to the shop today. Out of 4, only 1 had a little spray. The others just shot out a stream of fuel. Maybe that's why is smoked black under a load. We'll see when they get them repaired

Bruce, the nozzles on these are easy to change. They are the same tips used by Allis Chalmers and Minneapolis. Not expensive, though I have had good luck lapping the pintles and barrels.Set cracking pressure at 2200 PSI.

That was my trouble, I have no tools to do the setting. I've done it before, but that was 25 years ago. Just made more sense to have a shop do it.

Bruce, where do you take your injectors? I am always looking for someplace closer than Joplin. Tom

Case used DN O SD137 tip in naturally aspirated power cell engines, about fifty bucks new. AC and MM never used that tip although it would fit. MM used DN 4 SD 24 or DN 0 SD 2110. The most popular pintle tip is the DN 12 SD 12, AC, MH and other engines used it. Oliver used a lot of DN 0 SD 21.
Last two tips are about twenty bucks each.

The injectors in that engine are not supposed to have a fan out pattern, they are supposed to have the tight stream. The injector is supposed to shoot a thin stream across the exhaust pocket and into the power cell where the actual combustion takes place. In my opinion you should at least replace the one with the fan out pattern but as others suggested the tips are relatively cheap and if new are installed with a pressure adjustment you should be like new in that department.
