Does anyone know what drive (bendix) a MZ4176 starter take?
I went to start my case 300 or 310, 1956-1958 round nose and had the starter stop turning and when I loosened it and the drive gear (bendix) snapped back and I thought it was fixed so a few days later I tried to start it again and it turned over a few times so I took the starter off and disassembled it cleaned it up but the drive gear (bendix) doesn't kick out so I think it needs a new drive gear (bendix). Does anyone know what is the part number for the starter drive gear or bendix or is there an updated one for this starter? I found an MBG4105 a 12v starter local for cheap $50. that I read on this form that it will work on my case the only difference I found is the MZ4176 has a 10 tooth gear and the MBG4105 is a 9 tooth gear. Here is what it said on this form........
Your 210B would have been born with a AutoLite MZ4176 starter, which was 6 volt unit. That starter was also used on the 300 roundnose tractors. Based on my materials the 200Bs were produced as 6 volt systems, while the 300B/400Bs were 12 volt. If your tractor has been converted to 12 volts you could source one of the following:
300B: Delco 1107745, or AutoLite MBG 4105
400B: (Sealed because of COM) Delco 110775, or AutoLite MDL 6019

My tractor is 12v neg ground (I think it was converted)
I have been a mechanic for 38 years have worked on everything from cars to small engines to some larger tractors and I can fix just about anything and need a part number for the starter bendix and if the MBG4105 will work I will grab it just to have it just incase because I know starters for my case are hard to find at least for a decent price. Any help would be appreciated.
