Dvaid Brown 990 Selectamatic stalling

I have an old David Brown 990 Selectamatic Diesel that will run ok for about an hour then the engine RPM will increase then decrease repeatedly for about one minute until it finally stalls.

It usually requires a tow to get it started again, does not want to start on it's own again.

I have changed fuel filers but still does it.

Anyone have this problem before?

Thanks

Doug, check the fuel pump push rod on the lift pump.have seen them wear off to the point of the tractor doing just as you describe.Means you have to remove the lift pump. HTH.

Good thought. Also should consider a floater in the fuel system/tank, Bad check valve in the lift pump, cracked pickup in the tank(does it always quit at a certain fuel level?)... Lots of places to look.
