Case 300 and Baler Question

Just wondering if my little 1958 Case 300 Roundnose would be strong enough to pull a JD 336 baler on fairly flat ground. Probably only bale 300 - 400 bales per year but wondering if it might be too hard on the tractor. Tractor is in good shape, but mainly worried about the PTO. Next tractor up is 135hp so looking for something a little smaller. What are your thoughts? Thanks - Bob

I don't know anything about a JD 336, but I have ran a MF 12 baler with my 300. Only problem I had was the 300 drawbar was a little too low. I have also ran the MF 12 with a Case SC.

Bob- I have a 336 and have used it for about 16 years. I first pulled it with a Farmall 450 and it made her work. Ours has a thrower on it so that takes a little more power and when you pull a cage rack behind it it can get pretty heavy and push you around. If you don't have a thrower and you're not going to pull a wagon you will probably be ok with the 300. But you will definitely not be able to use the full capacity of the baler. They can really eat the hay! Hope this helps. Dan
