Detailing a Tractor is kinda like Quilting

My wife came to the shop this morning and noticed I was doing some touch-up to our second 1370. She said don't you have anything more important to do! I thought this was kind of important taking care of the fleet. She likes to quilt so I said this is very similar work. It is something you do not have to do but enjoy doing. Neither job pays very well. It does cost some money to do them. You hope when you are finished that you like the results. Well I do. I had washed and degreased the chassis then using only one rattle can of Power Red lightly went over it just to brighten it up. Then repainted the rims and touched up rusty and chipped areas on the cab. Before doing any painting I reworked the cab step so it is turned out, installed a new block heater and repaired a couple small oil leaks. Wish I had taken a before pic. Rod.

The few dollars you spent for paint sure make that 1370 look nice.Do you use a brush on the rims? My wife has painted more of the rims on our tractors then i have.[Maybe its because she does'nt quilt!!LOL!!]I'm thinking that I should have you turn the steps on the 2090. Looks like it would be easier getting in and out.

The tractor looks great and as far as quilting goes I cannot speak for My Wife or Myself-BUT I have been asked before by My Wife 'Why do You mess around with these old tractors? Why don't You just haul them to the scrap yard and get a newer tractor? My reply: where do the Lawyers need Me to sign on these Divorce papers?

That was done before I got the tractor, it must have started life as a 18.4 tractor and now has 20.8. Rod.

Darrell, the rims are painted with a rattle can also, I will take a better pic of the steps and post tomorrow. Rod.

she is a looker Rod,,, does that mirror get in the way? Funny about the wife's comments, do you say that to her when she is quilting? Well maybe it's best to say nothing lol
cnt

Tom, The mirror will slide out a long way to see behind bigger wagons. Ya I better not ask her that question about quilting, LOL. Rod.

Rod, I have sensed from your posts and pictures you take pride in keeping your equipment up. In the many years I have been in this business, I always admired customers like you. I always enjoyed trading their equipment in, and doing business with them.
Your line of equipment shows how you work, and what you farm looks like. First Class!

Dan

ps, But Rod, dont forget what day tomorrow is! It might have been a hint! HeHe

Rod....try using a foam brush on the rims instead of the spray. It works great and there are NO brush marks when you are done. No need to tape/mask anything either!

Its good to see owners who have "pride in their ride". Their trade-ins ALWAYS bring more $$$$

Dan You know us husbands don't dare forget that day, their birthday and your anniversary. I think most of us have done it once, and only once, LOL. Rod.
