The parts book shows the 504s in the 1570,2290,2390, 2590 2670 ect all using the same cam (66124). There is a different part number for the 1170 1070 1175. (58591) we pulled a cam from a 2290 with the 58591 casting number, it should have had a 66124 casting. Are the cams interchangeable or did someone mess with it?

I would bet not. The 2290 has a small journal crankshaft which should be the same part number as the 1170, 1270 and 1175. Chances are the cam was left over at the factory but I just checked the CNH parts website they have the same cam listed for both the 2290 with a 504 and the 1270 with the 451. Thats the A66124 number you have shown. If you could find the specs for each cam I would bet they are the same as far as duration and lobe height.

Maybe the 2290 in question had a motor swap to a large journal motor. I recall the part numbers for cam bearings being different from large journal to small. I could be wrong but if my memory holds the large journal motors had an overall bigger cam size wise.

Thanks to all. We just pulled the cam in a 1170 pulling tractor that we had ground a few years ago and it was a 58591 casting, same as 1070, 1175 ect.
