case block question

have any of you folks seen a 401bd block with the 30 series steering shaft hole in the block.This is a picture of one in a 970.

My 1970 1470 has the hole in it as well

My early 74 970 has the hole. It has been in the family since almost new.

I have seen early 70 series 6 cly block with the hole. After a year or so of production the hole disappeared. I honestly don't remember if the 4 cly 7-870's had them. Rod.
