rpm gauge

On my 530 I went I to clean the contact points in the voltage regulator with a small file and I couldn't get it in there and made it spark a couple times now my rpm gauge won't move if I have it at full throttle it will slightly bounce before I did that it worked fine any ideas?

Nick,
You still need to post some pics of your 530 so we know what 530 you have., To my knowledge your tack should be driven off the back of the generator and has a flex shaft that runs to the tach. did you wound it when trying to get at the VR?
John Saeli on this forum has repair kits or complete drives for your tractors tach.

Whenever I file points I use one of my wife's emory board nail
files (she wonders where they go). No sparks that way.

my guess is you welded the cable to the housing when it arced

I will check those couple things, Loren I'm going to get some pics tomorrow I would have today but when I got home from the shop it was getting dark thank you
