Need some LP advice

Working on an 800 wheatland propane. Thought I had it where it needed to be until I found a valve (vapor) that leaks. Have taken the regulator and carb apart and they LOOK ok but this is my first propane adventure and I really know nothing about them. It will fire if I squirt starting fluid into the carb but it's like the throttle has no effect. I has a Jimco regulator and carb. I'm very likely omitting important information but this is a start. It won't be running on LP until I get a couple of new valves for the tank. Thought I'd better get some advise from you experts and save me some headaches.

I'm not an expert by any means, but I will help what I can. There should be some sort of manufacturer ID on those tank valves. The ones on my 830 were actually the same as my 720 JD and I got rebuild kits for them from Daveport Tractor. As far as the Jimco regulator, good luck finding any parts for it. If it is bad, you are better off replacing it with a Century model H. They run about $260 new and parts are easy to get. They also offer an electric primer option that is great for cold starting. You can test your convertor for leaks by putting compressed air on the inlet at around 100 psi. It should hold pressure until there is a vacuum on the outlet. If you hear any leaking you are probably looking at a replacement convertor.

Paul, I got the valves for my 930 propane from my local Cenex. Lots of fork lifts use propane and have similar valves. Use the pipe paste labeled for propane to seal the threads. I think the manual for the 930 tells how to set the regulator and carb. for starting point. My son's DC and this 930 sat for a long time and I never had any trouble getting them going.

your system has been switched to Impco from the original Ensign which Case originally used. this Impco system is better than the original Ensign. Impco is still in business and complete rebuild kits are easily available. Century went out of business 3 years ago and all repair parts where bought by distributors. when they are gone none will be available. replace or repair your tank valves then fill with propane and see what happens.
