1370 pushing coolant out of cap. all cylinders are dry?

All the cylinders are dry? What could this be? The only thing I put new thermostats in it just because their wasn't any in it, could this make it do this?

How much does it push out, does it quit pushing it out or will it start to overheat from low water after a little running. Many people overfill the cooling system and as fluid expands from heat the excess will be pushed out the overflow until it reaches the point where there is room for expansion without overflow.

If you cannot see bubbles in the coolant when the fluid is up in the neck of the radiator when the engine is hot and idling maybe you have no problem, I would put a coolant recovery type cap on it and a longer overflow hose with the end of the hose submerged so I could see bubbles which would indicate a compression leak into the cooling system.

I had a problem 770 which I installed a permanent coolant recovery bottle on. Coolant recovery caps are available at auto parts in many different pressure ranges.

I just pulled the thermostats out just to c if their were in backwards but they weren't. But it cooled it down an runs fine now!!

Are you sure your radiator is not plugged on the inside. By leaving the thermostats out the water can bypass and not have to go through the radiator, whereas with them in it is forced to go through the radiator. You should not have more then 10 degrees different between the top and bottom when it is up to operating temp. If there is the water is flowing too slow.

I was just thinking of that I cleaned out a little nest in one pipe an used the vac on the top of the radiator but i was just thinking that it could be plugged inside! Thanks for the help guys!!

I was going to ask this awhile ago but forgot. When u have a cylinder that is letting a liquid out can u tell what it is? Like one u can rub your fingers in the exhaust an its wet but your fingers come out just wet, the outer looks the same but fingers come out with black soot residue on them. Not my problem now but was a year ago but still curious! Im guessing one is fuel an the other antifreeze!?

I had this happen to me once with an old Alice Chalmers. I put a new thermostat in and once it got up to temp, it would violently push coolant out. It took me a while to figure out the problem, but what was wrong was that the new thermostat didn't have a vent hole in it to keep air from building up a pocket behind the thermostat. I drilled a small hole in the flange of the thermostat like the old one had and it worked perfectly. Could this be happening to you too??

You know neither of the thermostats have any holes in them their solid. The tractor never had any in it before but while I had it all apart I thought id put a set in.

All the thermostats from CASE/IH that I have ever received for those tractors always had vents in them. I did get one from a parts house for a car that appeared not to have a vent, so I drilled a tiny hole in it. Rod.

Seemed like it didn't run right last night after I took out the thermostats an it still pushed a little coolant out the overflow hose now an then, so today call the case dealer to see if he had two nope didn't have any bummer so I just drilled a little hole in both reinstalled them added coolant then started her up. After probably 10 min the temp came up an has been running good, also hasn't pushed no coolant out either!!! So far good!! THANKS FOR ALL THE HELP GUYS!!!

My 400, 730 and 830 all did this, finally drilled small hole and that stopped it. I was just getting the ones that auto parts store said would work, they look like small or big block chevy thermostats.

Glad to hear Bryan! I don't know why they don't put holes in them from the start. I just put a new thermostat in my 85 Dodge pickup the other day, and I ended up drilling a hole in that one too before I put it in.
