tank heater on 830

Hello I have a 830 diesel that I have a tank heater ( 1000 watt ) from the block drain to the water manifold by the sending unit for the gauge ( I drilled a second hole on a flat spot that looked like it was cast for another hole, I did not like having the sending unit above the manifold in the tee ) this dose not seem to work, the radiator heats up but not the blocks, I put a new thermostat in when I replaced the radiator in march it also has a heater above the oil filter ( this thing is about like lighting a candle ) my neighbor has a 930 that they drilled a hole in the center of the manifold by the center of the middle valve cover that works great for their tank heater. What are your thoughts bad thermostat, outlet hose to close to the thermostat, should I move the water inlet in the manifold ?? Thanks Bryan

Put one on my 930 propane a month ago and put the top hose in the center of the water manifold. The one on the 730 diesel returns into the block between #1 and #2 cylinder. 2000 watt on the 930 and 1000 on the 730.

Thanks for the reply on your 730 dose the back head get very warm?? the 830 has a heater that screws in the block between 1 & 2 but it must be very low wattage it gets warm but that is about it . dose the 930 have 2 plugs in the block between 1& 2 and 5&6 ?? also how do you like propane I have been looking to buy one. Thanks Bryan

Love the propane 930! Last three winters have had -10 to -20 weather and it starts sitting outside. Decided to be nice to it and put a heater on it this year. Not as much power or efficiency as a diesel 930 but the fuel never goes bad. With a 1500 on the 730 and a 2000 heater on the 930, in a couple hours the whole engine is warm.
