Progress on the 440 Cab

Well yesterday I had to fire up the 440 and drive it outside to do some house keeping in the shop. Grinders torches and welders have made a mess. Got things swept up and put away,so I could get them back out to use. Seams kinda senseless don't it. Also turned the tractor around to work on the RH side easier. Pulled the RH panal out out of the 4 post ROPS frame and finished up the sheet metal sections in it. Lots of compound curves in the panals, so the body hammers and dollies got a work out. It is ready for body filler now.
It took a day of designing and fabing the door latch assy and the outside door handle. Got it tweeked now and works great. I also fabed up rear and side window strutts out of some 3/8" rod and bits and peices that I had kicking around. I also used the rod to bead all the outer edges of the fenders. All time consuming details. Today I will lay out the cardboard templets on some 16 gauge sheet metal and cut out the rear filler panal. The only peice that doesn't need to be bent in 6 directions. My hands are still cutting, drilling, and welding, but my mind is working on the interior padding and insulation, plus the decaling on the engine side panals. Maybe by Jan. it will be done. I still have to build a spray booth to paint the panals when they are ready. I got that all designed in my head also HeHe.

Mark, I took these pics from the rear patio yesterday before rolling the 440 out the shop door.
Fog was frozen to all the trees on the ridge tops.
How is your 646 project coming?

Awesome Loren, The detail is great. If you had to charge out $100 an hour while building the cab, bet none of us could afford one but sure would like one, Rod.

Nick, I noticed that you had some question about your 800 and thought the OM would help you a bit.
As I said, the hyd assy that you sent me has worked perfectly in the 440.
Merry Christmas to you and your family.Loren

Hey Rod, I would only charge $30 bucks per/hr., but there is a lot of pondering time in the office chair involved, and a few barley pops also. I do my best design work when I kick back. I finally came into the house a 10:00 last night, but things came together today.

I agree with that pondering time, things seem to work out after some thought and a couple barley pops with your feet up. Makes for great thinking time, Rod.

looks like top notch quality work, my fab projects usually work by the time i'm done but don't look near as good. Sounds like you got just as much rolling around in your head as I do, are you ever able to keep it all straight?

Chuck.
The original post is of my "low profile" 440 This is my other project 440 "high profile-cube cab. all mtd on rubber iso mounts and has two easy access doors. It is about 10" higher and will clear the door. I need to get this done, as knowone will ever figure out all the control linkages including overhead shaft brake and yes two clutch pedals, plus foot throttle,5 remote circuits. T&T hydrostatic steering (it has an I beam front axle w/power assist originally.
I have all the mechanical linkages fab up, including a park brake from a 70 series. Still need to plumb up the 30gpm crank driven pump to the valve body, and weld up the hyd tank, which will be part of the upper frame in front of the cowel. Fuel tank is all fabed and rear mounted like 70 series. I also need to fab up the hood and then get everything painted.
Hope I don't croke before it is done. HeHe
