A Diff Kind Of Day!

After some helpful hints from you guys I was able to make a couple tools and successfully replace the seal in the diff. side gear. Then refilled with oil and noticed a slight leak on the axle housing. Not a big deal as I was going to reseal the 3 pt piston anyway and that would be the perfect time to slip the axle housing off. After removing the rockshaft housing and draining oil again I noticed a diff spider gear pin missing in the unit. Sure enough it was laying near the ring gear where it has apparently been rubbing for quite some time judging by the appearance of the pin. Well to remove the sheared roll pin that once secured the diff pin I removed that darn side gear with the seal in anyway. LOL. The oring that seals the axle housing was damaged the last time someone had that apart and I do not think the pipe nipple in the 3 pt piston drain hose is standard equipment. It was hanging over the 4 speed gears slipped in to connect two hoses without any clamps. Had that fallen in things would have got ugly really fast. Rod.

Dang Rod those cowboys were pretty hard on that tractor! Looks like you are getting quite the "education" on the small units!

Can you imagine doing all that to your 580 C with that hoe and frame, and cab in the way?

Easy to do on a 580C, drop the trans axle out in 15 min repair and bolt back in, now a 580CK or 580B,,,,, little more work then lol
