Looking at buying this 311. It was in a fire that burned most of the exterior. However the transmission and engine still look great and have paint still on them. The motor was supposedly rebuilt not too long ago as well.

Comes with draw bar, top link (the 300 version) and both engine side panels that were off and relatively safe from the fire.

I am surprized that the tires are still there. Looks like the throttle lever melted though. Was there gasoline in the fuel tank that ignited? Can you get it for about $500?

Check for oil in the engine and transmission. If there is still oil in both, then you will have a restorable tractor. Otherwise, don't expect to get many good parts out of it. The oil will continually evaporate inside the tractor while it is in the fire, and will keep things below 500 deg. F on the inside (until it all evaporates away). This ensures that parts don't warp and heat treated parts remain properly heat treated. In any case, plan on completely dismantling everything to check for damage, and also plan on replacing all external oil seals.

Doesn't look like it got to hot. Paint on engine and the sheet metal looks straight. I would definitely give 500 for it.

That is what I was thinking. Ill need to take over the crank and turn the engine over just to make sure it isn't seized. I was thinking on trying to find some almost worn out tires for it so i can move it around and start work on it.
I believe I can get a replacement throttle lever and upon closer inspection of my 300b-400b (I know its not a 300-400b but they are very similar) parts manual I don't think the dash cluster will be to difficult to repair. (assuming the glass protected the inside)

There is an after market on those levers. John Saeli has them at the link. The original levers were cheap pot metal, broke very easily. Roll pin would fuse in the lever and was very difficult to get out w/o destroying the lever. I've dealt with a few, best to just bust them off and get another.

John can provide several of the parts like the shifter knobs, boot and many other 300 parts you will need. Good, honest seller with lots of experience.

If you're not familiar with the shifter knobs, they screw on to the lever. If you see about 1/2" knurled piece on the end of the lever, it is actually the core of the original knob. Use a small pipe wrench and work the core back and forth to clean and prevent stripping the threads.

Thank you for the information and the link. I was worried about the throttle lever. I'm also trying to figure out what I'm going to do for the mounts for the lights since they were aluminum or pot metal as well and are melted.

Check with John, he has good contacts. Roger Hornbaker use to make them out of fiberglass, with some paint they looked original. Roger has retired, someone took over his cluster gauge refurbishing, like your 300. Someone may be making the parts also.

Other people on here know where to get specific items if you can get their attention.

Best way to do that is start a new post when you want something and list one or two items only. Some guys list a half dozen or more items, just does not draw much interest. You're good with pics, helps a lot and makes the post more attractive.
