I've got a 580CK that is in really good condition with low hours. Someone several years ago kept pushing their luck with a bad starter, and now there are several spots in the flywheel that are bad. It's been sitting for about 6 years. The engine is free, and they claim they pull started it the last few times they used it. Can you pull start a hydraulic shuttle shift? (Has the shuttle on the left hand side of the steering column.) My big question is, how hard is the thing to split to get the flywheel replaced? I heard someone say once they split one with the loader on, is this possible? I haven't studied to see how bad a job it would be to remove it, but doesn't look fun. Serial is 8694347 is anyone can date this machine for me.
 
it serials as a 1972, as for pull starting,, it has to have the 8 speed shuttle trans to be pull started, both have the fwd/rev lever in the same spot but the 8 speed has a solid link between the engine and wheels and will turn the engine if you pull it, I cannot see any way a power shuttle tractor can be tow started

Tom, looks like 8694347 was near the end of production of 580CK. You were probably just getting this late serial nr delivered for sale in 1972.

Joe, I had forgot they continued to make the 580CK and the 580B at the same time, 71-72, as soon as the 580B came we never ordered any more 580CK's, we had some of the very first serialed 580B's
 
Well then the tractor is a 1972. You can't get nothing by Tom. The man is psychic, he knew what you had even if you didn't.

Hopefully JC can come up the ring gear you need. Good guy to deal with.

Hi, I just joined the forum. I have a 1967 580ck that is in need of some TLC! I have been looking for parts that seem to be a bit hard to find. They are for the 3 point hitch, and I need a battery cover that doubles for the left foot tread. Anyone have any ideas? I have pictures of the parts that I need.
