Zach81 530 PTO

Zach, after much research and assembling pics for posting I have not been able to tie the standard PTO with the 530 shuttle. It may be for the 530 triple range only?

My PTO experience is with the 300/300B series and one 430, all had triple range. I don't have any shuttle experience.

Pic is the parts diagram for the 530 standard PTO. Does any one know if the 530 shuttle used the standard PTO, the independent PTO, or was it factory with either one?

Also a link to CaseHI parts manuals. Maybe some one can figure it out from the 530 parts diagrams.

I don't have the 530 service manual Tom. Just trying to figure it out using the CaseIH on-line parts manual. I had 430 service manual which would have had the info but it is MIA, I probably gave it to someone.

Zach's pic that appears to be a broken PTO shaft could very well be a just a plugged off standard PTO. The plug is in the seal housing at the rear of the main shaft so it will turn any time there is power to the transmission which makes me think is a standard PTO.

Joe, well it seem like it was a good possibility it didn't have it. The guy I bought it from said that the guy he bought it from said it had PTO but took it off as it would hit his homemade 55 gallon weight.I would tend to believe this as the PTO delete cover was homemade. I don't see how you would break one. I bought a cast one on eBay to replace, but now we are here :)

Zach,am going elk hunting but will look in my book when i return. Will check with you when I get back in a week.Something tells me that a shuttle did not have a pto.

I might be off my rocker, but I seem to have read somewhere that if you had a shuttle and PTO that the PTO reversed with the transmission. ????

Grandpas 480c/k had the shuttle and pto, was live pto. I have been told by someone more knowledgeable than I thst it is exactly like the 530. Don't know if that is true but it might help to track down a diagram!!

(530) - CASE AG & UTILITY TRACTOR (PRIOR TO S/N 8262800) (1/60-12/64) is the early 530. This 530 tractor or any other tractor in this era with the shuttle can have a PTO. That's a given.

The question is does the shuttle tractor have a standard PTO like the first parts diagram above or is it an independent PTO like these two parts diagrams? Or can it have either one depending which one is installed?

Externally there quite a lot of different, especially the engagement lever. So which one do you guys with shuttle have?

The 310 tractor pic has a triple range with a standard PTO.

Joe, my 68 430 has Independent PTO, but as you know early units had no such option unless it had COM, I do have a 530CK that has shuttle and pto, I will go look but I think it has a standard pto

I will take some pics of my "540" I believe -no ser 3 etc. If my memory serves me it has the manual engage one like the triple range on my 310. I'll post pics in a day or so. this will also help me as my W3had the pto removed .

Mr Bill

On another note - maybe some one can answer this - If the trans (4 speed is behind the shuttle why wouldn't the shaft exiting it be the same for a shuttle or triple? Is there a reason to change the 4 speed tarns to change the shuttle or three speed?
