removing rockshaft on 1030

I'm in the process of taking the rockshaft housing off my 1030 so I can put new seals on the piston.

I have all the bolts out around the perimeter of the housing but it doesn't want to break loose. The manual says to remove the auxiliary hydraulic valve. What is the reason for removing the aux hyd. Looks to me like the rockshaft should come off with it on.

Any background you could share is appreciated.

Have you checked to see if it can be done through the rear PTO housing? I have done others that way, but not sure if the 30 series can be done through there. If possible it would be much easier.

I got te top off and turned upside down on the workbench. I got the piston out and was disappointed to not find a broken o ring. The top and bottom seals appear to be hard.

Has anyone had an issue where the o rings were leaking around the sleeve? I wasn't wanting to take it out if it seldom caused a problem.

Also I found one rough place in te cylinder would it be ok to hone te cylinder a little to smooth it up?

Thanks

The ideal finish for the inside of a hydraulic cylinder is very smooth, finer than a cylinder hone, but if it has scratches in it you might be able to improve it some.
