VAC Clutch Install adjust

Split my VAC to replace the ring gear and found I had some clutch issues. I am having the Flywheel and Pressure plate resurfaced at a machine shop and have a new clutch disk from John Saeli.

The Case Service Manual show using a special tool (t-131)to measure and adjust the pressure plate with the flywheel. I don't have a T-131. There must be some other way of making the adjustment so I looked at my Case I&T manual. In that section it refers you to another I&T manual for Auburn Clutches...don't have that either.

Any ideas on how to make any needed adjustments???

She works all summer pulling a 6ft finish mower and I never noticed any clutch problem...tough girl!

(By the way the I&T manual says you can rotate the bearing housing on the clutch shaft to access the ball pivot shaft to remove the release bearing....You can't!! The fork will not clear the bell housing bump out unless you pull the shaft and bearing housing forward...which then starts draining the torque tube...Thank you I&T!!!)

Paul: With the disc & pressure plate all bolted back together, the bearing side of the fingers must be 2-1/8" away from the driving surface of the flywheel.

Well, there is a reason that the service manual gives you a print with all of the dimensions that you need to make a T-131. It is simple to make, and any good machine shop with a decent sized lathe and basic tooling should be able to fabricate one for you.

Thanks John...I don't like to have to ask dumb questions. By the way where did you find this info, did I miss it in a manual??

It was described in the operators manual, did not see it in the IT shop service manual. I tried to copy it to here but something went wrong. I can try again if you want?

I have something called the Dealer's Service Manual Case "VA" series tractors and engines.( It is a reprint of a Case publication) ) It has 62 pages but I will be darned if I see any specs for the T-131.

Joe I appreciate your attempts. My VAC owners manuals have no such info. Could you email me the page? pfrederi1@hotmail dot com

Joe... many thanks. I guess my "Dealers Service manual" from Case is not nearly as complete as the one you are using.
