So today I jump on my 830 C.K. (8 speed) to move a little snow, It would barely move in reverse.. so I droped it into the low side of the trans and it took off. I tried a forward gear in high and again it would just creep along, but on the low side it was fine. I fiqured It needed a clutch adjustment as I noticed the pedal had zero free play, so I adjusted it out so the clutch has about 2 inches of free play, got back in it and it started to work.. sort of, anytime I tried to go up a hill it would just sort of wimp out, if I put it in low it would get me to where I needed to go. The clutch is only about 3 years old with maybe 200-300 hours, mostly for moving snow and a little bit of mowing. I took that inspection cover off and looked in there it looked ok, but I dont really know. I also noted that clutch arm has a key way in it and it appears it is all in tack and I dont see how it could turn on that splined shaft anyway. I used it last night to move a couple of car bodies around and had no problems? anybody have any ideas?
