Difference Between 430 and 530 188D engine?

I found a Case 430 on CL, interested but would like a little more power. Someone told me you just put 530 injectors in it, but looked it up and part numbers are the same. Does anyone know how you get more power out of a 430 188 engine?

Injection pumps are calibrated differently, There were different styles injectors over the years with different pop pressures and different tip designs but not to increase the power.

In the mid 60's I worked for a Case Dealer in California. We took most all of the 430 (188 engines) injector pumps and had them turned up to 630 power.

We had a core pump that we kept in stock when that engine was Case's mainstay in most eguipment and it was calibrated to 450 crawler specs.

There is a man who checks this forum named JD Demaris who knows those pumps thoroughly.

It is a job best left to someone with his abilities or taken to a shop and calibrated on a test stand.

Our local Case dealer sold many 430's instead of 530's on a cost basis alone. He turned the injection pumps up to 530 specs to get the same power as a 530. You can make a 430 one impressive little machine. Don

450 crawler spec matches the 630 on cc fuel delivery at 55. 530 tractor is 45cc stock and 430 is 40cc stock. All have 6 degrees pump, 12 engine advance. Have had to replace the leaf spring at times to get the fuel increase wanted. Some Case skidloaders have an even lower fuel setting than the 430 did.

Did the Case-o-matics run at a higher rpm than the direct drives? Were all 430s and 630s Case-o-matic while 530's were direct drive versions of the 630?
