I've been pouring over some pics looking for the right fasteners that bolt to the radiator cowling and the two that fasten the dash to the steering column. Best I can figure is that they are Phillips head pan screws. 5/16 national coarse X 1"?? Thanks in advance I would go look but she is being stored in a distant location far from reach!

Hi - I've 2 400s, an early and a late one. Parts book lists the same bolts, and my 2 tractors have the original bolts. For the dash, the bolts next to the steering column that thread into the column are 1/4 x 1/2 NC truss head screws. The truss head has a very flat head and slotted for a blade screwdriver. I bought a box for the tractor and the earlier SCs from Fastenall. They also carry the captive nuts needed in some places. The 2 screws on the top are 1/4 x 3/4 truss head, but they have a nut and a washer listed. I think the truss head is also called a pan head screw. I can take a pic and send it if you'd like. The parts book has no illustrations of these fasteners. I've have yet to find the listings for the tin sides you also asked about, but mine are the slotted truss or pan head screws. Some with nuts behind and some with captive nuts. Seems to be a mixture of fine and course threads with those captive nuts. Again Fastenall carries that stuff.

That's Great! I had a hood latch spring on the 411 that was bad when I got her, and the other day I found the perfect spring to replace it. I tapped out the pin that holds the washer just below the spring ,and held my tongue just the right way and slipped the new spring and pin back in place. I staked the pin. I hung the extra spring up on the tool board so when I break another one, I'll be set, if I don't forget where I put it.HEE
