PTO gears on VAS

How big a job is it to change the 2 gears that run the PTO on a 1952 VAS? how much of the rear end has to be taken apart? Thanks AMO

drain the rearend/trans oil and remover the six or so 3/8" bolts and pull the unit rearward, very easy to change the gears, the nut that is crimped can damage the threads so make sure and get it bent out of the way of the threads

Be sure to keep the spacers on the driven gear on the correct side. They are different lengths. I assume you know that the gears in the VAS and VAH are different from the ones in the other VA series. Lee

Where can the gears be purchased? The PTO does not work , I think it is the gears. Thanks Amo

The procedure is the same, but all of the parts are different except the seal, seal retainer and the bearings on the pto shaft. Even the shift fork is different. When you get it apart send me an email. I should have what you need. Lee
