Case126 Rebuid Using 148 Overhaul Kit

Hi All!

I've been lurking around here for a couple years a have learned a lot and am still amazed at the knowledge of the members.

I have a 210B that I salvaged from a field and have been running but its time to overhaul the motor. My question is the overhaul kits with pistons and liners are outrageously expensive to the tune of $1500. I have found posts saying that you can use the148 kits ($600), but just generic statements. Is this true? Can I buy the 148 overhaul kit and install it in my 126?

I have done that on one occasion. The sleeve fits as does the wrist pin BUT, the 148 has a longer stroke than the VAC. The piston will not come clear to the top of the sleeve. It had very good power but not as good as the VAC's 3 7/16 bore kit would as the displacement would increase but compression would be lower than the right kit.

mEl!! mEl!! Off to the woodshed!! Mike is talking about the 126 in the 200B. The 148 sleeve will not fit in the 126 without some modification to the lower part of the sleeve. The upper sleeve flanges are the same, but the lower bore in the 126 is just a bit smaller than the 148, so ever so little must be turned off the lower part of the 148 sleeve, so it will fit into the 126 block. The o ring grooves do not need to be altered. The crankshafts in the 126 & early 148 are the same. We have furnished several 148 kits that were installed in the 126, with great success, but the modification had to be made.

John the sleeve on the 148 is thick enough to turn down for the 126? I was under the impression that the block had to be bored. This is good information I wish when I put rings in mine I would have known this. Never too old to learn!
