Started the 4490 yesterday and it sounded like it had a miss to the engine. Black smoke came out under driving down the road. Put the deep til tool in the ground and had no power. So what do you think happened when it ran great a week ago.

Bird nest in the intake. Or mouse... black smoke indicates not enough fresh air to burn all the diesel properly. Maybe turbo locked up.. maybe.

We had a bird's nest in the intake on the 2290 last year made a lot of smoke and no power.

Had corn leaf pieces plug intake of 2388 combine give the same symptoms you are reporting. Like other posters said check air intake for obstructions.
