400 diesel with loader, good machine?

Not to start a gunfight, but I've 2 400s diesels I use year round, they both will pop right off down into the teens and then they need a block heater. I'd probably prefer a gas for winter loader work if you're just feeding bales, it's tough to get them warmed up enough to justify starting. I do not like narrow fronts and loaders..........

Your right as far as you go, but that tractor is for sale in Mn. And temps get well below zero every year here. They will start at those temps with a good tank heater and #1 fuel if they are in good shape.

I might start a fire storm here, but it looks pretty pricy for what I see there. Whom ever mounted the loader elected to leave the belt pulley on the tractor and mounted the loader farther forward making a tippy narrow front tractor even more tippy. Looks like that it could be mounted another 16"s further back, which would be a plus. There is none of the 3pt. hitch showing in the pics., and has a lot of battle scars. The GB 800 ldr is worth a grand at best.

Remove the belt pulley assembly, move the loader back where it belongs and put a wide front on it.

Grew up with a 400 diesel and started it every week to grind feed. The weather did not matter. They are a good solid tractor. What I don't know is the difference between a regular 400 and a super.Someone please enlighten me.

Super diesel 400's had 4 1/8 pistons instead of 4", a little more RPM on the pump, bigger tool box, PTO brake, and few other little details. They came right at the end of 400 production and should have about 55 hp compared to a regular 400. Don

There was a super diesel sold in northern Nebraska for 1400 about a month ago. With the seat wrong, 3 point missing, intake stack shortened,DC wheel weights, tires are not that great, and it smoking, I would say 1500 would be enough for the tractor and if the loader is worth 1,000, then $2500 would be about what it is worth. But price is between buyer and seller.
