Does anyone have knowledge about the possibility of welding cracked heads or blocks? Are there any companies that do this reliably? Thanks, Don

Try locknstitch, heard good things about them. I've welded some blocks but never a head.

I had Midwest Cylinder and Head in Nevada Iowa do the heads on my 400 diesel. They have a good reputation here in central Iowa. They boiled, cleaned, pressure tested, repaired, and installed new valve guides and seats in both of mine. I don't know the details of their welding process but the heads looked brand new when I got them back. I'm guessing that they could weld up a block as well. 70 hours on a total overhaul and so far so good.

One of the best in the Midwest is Accurate Automotive in Mt Vernon, IL. It's pretty much a one man shop and the owner Clarence does fantastic work. Caution, he is trying to retire.
Crow Custom Cast Welding out of Hudson WI does great work. Only had some things surfaced with them, but we saw some of his work before and after and you couldn't tell it was ever fixed.
