The truck is a 3000 White, there were thousands on the road back in their day, in the 1950s and 1960s, you could get aboot any engine in it you wanted, gas or diesel, I have never seen one with a Hemi engine.

Awesome find! My grandfather bought a new Chevy COE 50 in 1968 and had it painted in the same color scheme. It has a roll-back bed and was used to transport equipment for his dealership.

Back in the days of the first generation Hemis, 1951-1958, virtually none of the parts of the three different engines, Chrysler, DeSoto, and Dodge would interchange, except for maybe the sparkplugs and oil.

Bryce,

So each Chrysler division had its own version of the early Hemi engine? Were they different cubic inch displacement as well? Thanks, Don

Don, Is that old truck that Panosh had still sitting by his old Case Dealership building? I remember him using that truck when I was a kid to deliver the new Case corn planter my dad bought from him. He also had an old cross-motor Case tractor in the building and I never heard of anyone purchasing it. Might still be there. About 10 years ago a friend of mine wanted to buy it but his wife wanted $18,000 for it. Al

Al,

The truck is sitting behind a barn in Forestville. The present owner bought it from Panosh to use for hauling hay until the early 70's. Its been sitting there since. People really speak highly of the Panosh's. Don

Don According to the info I have, from "Tex Smith's The Complete Chrysler Hemi Engine Manual" the Chryslers were 51-55 331 c.i., 56 354 c.i., and 57-58 392 c.i.. Dodge 53-54 241 c.i., 55 270 c.i., 56 315 c.i., and 57 325 c.i. some Dodges in 57 also used the Chrysler 354 c.i.. Then DeSoto 52-54 276 c.i., 55 291 c.i., 56 330 c.i., 56-57 341 c.i., and 57 345 c.i.. So DeSoto could be any of 5 different displacements. Then there were also single rocker shaft heads (polyspherical) for many of the different sizes.

Nate, Don indicated the truck is located in Forestville, Wisconsin. This town is about 10 miles south of Sturgeon Bay, WI. Don might know if the truck is for sale. Al
